Three people traveling in a catamaran on the Colorado River were injured when the boat flipped over and dumped them in the water.
A fourth person on the boat was not injured.
The four passengers were pulled from the water by other boaters on the river after they donned life jackets. Authorities credit the life jackets and the other people with saving any of the victims from drowning.
When the victims reached the shore, they were taken to the hospital. One person suffered serious head injuries, another had back injuries and the third suffered from chest injuries.
Alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash.
