An 18-year-old girl was hit by a school bus while crossing the street in the crosswalk, according to a Mesa Public Schools spokesperson.
Apparently, she was crossing the street just before sunrise at 7 a.m. when the bus struck her. Witnesses state that she was wearing dark clothes.
According to several witnesses on the bus, the driver did not see her. As he struck her he reportedly asked if he hit someone and then he radioed the police for help.
The teenager was transported to a local hospital, where she is critical condition. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
