Authorities have identified a motorcyclist that was killed in a 3-vehicle collision Tuesday evening in Surprise, a city about 20 miles northwest of Phoenix. According to Surprise Police Department, emergency crews were summoned to respond to a multi-vehicle crash near the intersection of West Bell Road and Sunrise Boulevard about 5:40 p.m. A preliminary investigation indicates Tyler Deskins, 19-years old of Surprise, was speeding on his motorcycle on Bell Road when he collided with 2 vehicles in the area about a half mile from east Loop 303. Deskins was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
No other individuals were seriously injured in the collision but 1 person was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. According to police, Deskins was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Surprise police are not able to determine yet if impairment was a factor in the crash and have not made any arrests. The accident still was under investigation Wednesday. Additional details were not immediately available. Drivers were asked to avoid the area throughout the evening.
