Glendale, AZ – Police investigate a single-vehicle crash that killed a teen and left two people injured Monday night.

The accident occurred near 55th Avenue and Morten Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. The vehicle was traveling south on 55th Avenue and was being driven by a teen aged Phoenix resident. He lost control of his vehicle and it swerved onto the northbound lane and onto a tree. Airbags inside the vehicle deployed but that was not enough to safe the drivers life.
The vehicle was totaled and the fire department removed the doors to extricate the victims. The driver was declared dead on the scene. His two passengers, also Phoenix residents were transported to a nearby hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The accident is under investigation. The names of the victims will not be released until authorities have notified their kin of the accident.
