Surprise, AZ – A student injures a police officer that was attempting to stop a fight on a school campus late Monday morning.

Two teenage students were throwing heavy blows at each other Monday when at about 10:30 a.m. school police officers became aware of the situation. They rushed to the scene where their goal was to stop the fight and keep it from escalating as to prevent further injuries and disputes amongst students.
In an attempt to stop the fight by physically restraining one of the students, an officers allegedly received a physical hit from one of the students. According to Arizona Central News, there was another officer who was there and could attest to that fact.
The officer was injured and was treated for minor injuries. There were no reports which state the extent of injuries the fighting students received.
The officers regained control of the situation despite the fact of one being injured. They handcuffed both students.
After investigating the accident, the students were arrested. They faced many charges: suspicion of disorderly conduct, aggravated assault and resisting arrest. This means the students will not be returning to school any time soon.
Names of the students were not released and neither was the name of the officer who was a victim. Sgt. Norm Owens, the spokesman for the Surprise Police Department spoke on his behalf.
