Phoenix AZ (November 13, 2018) - A rideshare driver warns those looking to get into ridesharing. If you end up getting in an accident while working you might end up with the bill, and a big one at that. The Lyft driver caught another driver in a truck weaving and then slamming into him. The accident is caught on video and now Darren Hafner is stuck with a bill of 2500$ because the truck driver is uninsured.
The collision happened on highway 143, near the 202. Hafner is a retired police officer who moved to the valley from Canada. He started driving in rideshare companies to make ends meet. Hafner said his passenger was really sacred and took the worst of it; she was taken to the hospital. The driver of the truck was uninsured and got a ticket by the DPS, Hafner on the other hand was stuck with the bill for 2500$.
Hafner states he did nothing wrong, he says he was driving safe and as perfect as one can drive when he was then rear ended by a truck driver who was on his cell phone while driving. Hafner states his main concern was his passenger; he felt horrible for her and tried his best to calm her. His thanks was being left with either a wrecked car or a bill of 2500$.
Hafner says he’s tried multiple times to reach someone In the rideshare company, but no luck yet. He wants to warn others who think the company will take care of them in an incident like this.
