A man in his 20’s wanted to use his apartment’s communal pool for a swim and to cool off from a hot day at about 3:00 p.m. He had forgotten the key which allows residents access to the pool. Instead of going back for the key he decided to climb the over the fence which is made of stone bricks on the bottom and decorative steel roads with arrowhead spike ends on the top.
Nearly over the fence, the man lost his footing and slipped. The arrowhead end of the fence pierced through the bottom of his head between the neck and the jaw. The puncture ran through floor of his mouth.
When fire rescue arrived, they saw the man shaking in exhaustion. He was holding onto the fence with his hands to keep the puncture from going in deeper inside his mouth. A picnic bench was immediately placed under him to relieve his legs. Firefighters cut the fence using pliers as opposed to a saw, which produces vibration.
The man removed the spike on his own by pulling it out. He was rushed to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries where he received stitches and antibiotics to help close his wound and prevent infection.
