A police officer in Gilbert was hit by a pickup truck while trying to arrest the driver for driving with a suspended license on Tuesday, police records indicate.
Greg Wheeler, 43, attempted to run after he was pulled over. He hit the officer and then fled. He made a U-turn at the intersection of Hobson Street and Baseline Road at 9 p.m. to avoid police.
The officers eventually found him and chased him to Scottsdale, where he crashed with another vehicle at 86th Street and Indian Bend Road.
He attempted to flee on foot over a residential fence, but a police dog found him and held him until they could arrest him.
