Casa Grande, AZ (November 17, 2018) - the Casa Grande police is investigating an accident that left a Pinal County deputy injured. The deputy was conducting a Traffic stop on Pinal Ave by Casa Grande Airport at 1:08 am on Saturday November 17, 2018. The deputy was waiting for a tow truck to receive an impounded Chevy Blazer. The Casa Grande police Department stated that the pick-up truck hit the marked patrol car from behind knocking the deputy towards the Airport fence and into the back of the Chevy Blazer.
The deputy did not suffer any life-threating injuries but was transported by helicopter to Phoenix Hospital for treatment and is expected to recover. The driver of the Dodge was identified as Bryan Whittemore age 35, of Casa Grande. Bryan was charged with aggravated assault, endangerment, aggravated criminal damage, DUI and reckless driving.
