Phoenix, AZ (February 28, 2019) – Phoenix Police Department investigating a fatal pedestrian vs. vehicle collision at a busy intersection in Phoenix early Thursday morning, February 28th. According to officials, the incident occurred shortly before 3:00 A.M. near the intersection of 27th Avenue and McDowell Road. Police say that the pedestrian, who was later identified as 37-year old Chris Hamilton, was reported to have been crossing McDowell Road from the north side to the south side walking against traffic when he was struck by a vehicle.
First respondents arrived on scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead on arrival. Officers said that the 45-year old driver who struck Hamilton remained on scene and cooperated with authorities. Alcohol and drugs were not suspected as a factor in the collision. The investigation continues.
