The Arizona Department of Public Safety said that the passenger in a car crash on the Interstate 10 in Phoenix fled the vehicle on Thursday night.
The accident occurred at about 6:20 p.m. after a vehicle hit the median wall on the eastbound side on the I-10 at the Seventh Street exit. A male passenger, apparently uninjured, immediately fled the scene of the accident.
Authorities say that as a passenger in the vehicle he has no obligation to remain at the scene. It is unclear if investigators will search for him.
The eastbound lanes were closed at Interstate 17 because of the accident and all traffic was rerouted through Seventh Street until 11 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Two of the occupants of the vehicle were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
