An 80-year-old woman was found murdered in Chandler on Friday and her son died in a car crash near Heber on Friday.
The Chandler Police Department responded to calls in the 2900 block of South Arroyo Drive near Dobson and Queen Creek roads about a possible missing person case in the area.
According to the caller, the elderly woman had not been seen or heard from in some time. Her son apparently lived with her and had also not been seen.
Officers gained entrance to the home and saw immediately that there had been foul play. They also noted that her Cadillac had been taken from the driveway.
They put out an alert for her son, who they called “an investigative lead.”
They located the Cadillac in northeastern Arizona on Saturday after it was involved in a single-vehicle car crash at milepost 295 on State Route 260.
The son was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, where he later died.
