Phoenix, AZ (April 26, 2023) – The Arizona Department of Public Safety has reported that the eastbound lanes of Loop 202 in Phoenix have reopened following a tragic incident. A man, who was involved in a separate accident, was struck and killed by a car.
The initial accident occurred at around 3:45 a.m. on Saturday when a Dodge Charger collided with another vehicle that was pulling a trailer near the 32nd Street exit. A third car hit the trailer and was pushed into an on-ramp at 32nd Street from the impact. The male driver of the third car got out, ran into the westbound lanes and was fatally struck by an SUV.
It's unclear why he ran onto the freeway. There were no other reported injuries. Both directions of the highway were closed for investigation but have now reopened.
