Tucson, AZ – A man dies a week after encountering a tragic crash with a car that allegedly failed to yield. He was riding his bicycle which had a motor installed when he hit a car that was pulling out from a private driveway on May 8, 2012.

On May 15, 2012, Michael G. Beck died at a local Tucson hospital from week-long battle against life-threatening injuries which were published on Arizona Daily Star.
The unexpected accident of Tuesday night, May 8th was what got him to the hospital in the first place. Paramedics and authorities responded to the accident at about 10:30 p.m., minutes after it had happened.
Beck was riding his motorized bicycle westbound on East Prince Road near Geronimo Avenue. At about the same time a silver 2005 Nissan Sentra was pulling out of a private driveway in the 400 block of East Prince Road allegedly unyielding. Beck crashed against the sedan. He was ejected off the motor vehicle and with the impact which was caused by the violent stop created by the car, flew over the hood of the car and smashed into the ground.
Not wearing a helmet, beck suffered serious life-threatening head injuries. The place where he landed was covered in blood. His face, hair and clothes were also soaked with the red fluid. Tucson Fired Department paramedics transported him to a local hospital where he fought a week-long tireless battle for his life.
Tucson Police Department Spokeswoman Sgt. Maria Hawke said the driver of the car was cited for failing to yield while exiting a private driveway. The cause behind the driver’s failure to yield was not explicated.
