A freeway in Mesa has reopened after a man died when he tried to make a U-turn on the freeway early Friday morning.
The driver collided with two other vehicles while trying to make a U-turn on U.S. 60 eastbound near Lindsay Road. The accident occurred at 2 a.m.
A Kia sedan was traveling eastbound when, for an unknown reason, the driver decided to make a U-turn. The car was then struck by a semi-truck. The impact sent the Kia head-on into a Cadillac.
The Kia driver died immediately on impact. The other two drivers also suffered injuries and were transported to the hospital.
The freeway was closed until just before 6 a.m. on Friday.
