Phoenix, AZ – The driver of hearse loses consciousness on an Arizona road and causes six vehicles to crash Friday morning.

En route to deliver a body, a hearse driver loses consciousness while behind the wheel on Loop 101 near 64th Street Friday morning. A passenger inside the hearse attempted to gain control of the vehicle and managed to steer it towards the right side of the shoulder. Six other vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction type crash with the hearse.
Two drivers were hospitalized, one of which was the driver of the hearse. The victims were transported to local hospitals where they were treated for their injuries. Further details were not releases.
Police closed the lanes where the accident occurred. The accident is being further investigated. Lanes will reopen in several hours.
