Tolleson, AZ- The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal collision between a vehicle and pedestrian Wednesday, July 10th. According to DPS troopers, the fatal collision occurred shortly after 4:30 A.M. on the westbound I-10 just before the Loop 101 in West Valley when a vehicle stopped in the travel lanes after they had struck a pedestrian that was running across the freeway. DPS are currently investigating where the pedestrian had come from as witnesses told troopers that another vehicle had stopped and the pedestrian exited the vehicle and ran across the freeway.
This report could not be corroborated and investigators are still trying to gather additional information at this time. I-10 has closed completely at 91st Avenue. Traffic is being re-routed via the frontage road to 99th Avenue and can re-enter I-10. DPS expects the closure to last approximately 3 hours as they investigate.
