Dewey, AZ – Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority has announced 4 people dead and 3 others in critical conditions following a head-on collision between 2 vehicles on Highway 169 in Dewey, 15 miles east of Prescott, Sunday morning, May 31st. the incident occurred shortly before 8:20 A.M. when an Acura sedan was traveling southbound on Highway 169, a two lane highway, when for unknown reasons the driver veered to the left and crashed into a Ford 1-ton pickup truck that was traveling in the northbound lanes.
All 4 occupants of the Acura were pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. Those fatalities included the driver, who was a 16 year-old boy; the front passenger, 35 year-old Amanda Colvin of Prescott Valley; and two young boys, ages 5 and 7, who were riding in the back.
The driver of the Ford pickup suffered non-threatening injuries but his 3 passengers suffered very serious injuries and were flown to Phoenix-area hospitals. Department of Public Safety Media Relations Specialist Bart Graves stated via email that “the Ford’s driver has non-life-threatening injuries, although his 3 passengers have very serious injuries. Everyone is still in the hospital.”
