An 84-year-old man was killed while crossing 19th avenue in Phoenix last Wednesday. The accident occurred near Sunnyside avenue at 6:30 p.m. The man was crossing the road with his grocery bags in an unmarked crosswalk.
A southbound 1999 Oldsmobile struck him and knocked him to the ground. He stayed on the ground and was unable to get up as a 1999 GMC Jimmy struck him as well. Both of the drivers stayed at the scene.
The man was taken to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.
Authorities say that the driver of the Oldsmobile may have been impaired by alcohol or drugs and toxicological reports are still pending.
