Fuel fumes escaped unnoticed when a boat mechanic from the Arizona lake and the boat’s owner worked on getting the boat’s engine started on the lake’s fuel dock. When the mechanic started the engine, the escaped fuel fumes caught fire. According to Arizona Central, the fire burned both men and released dark smoke.
When paramedics and firefighters arrived, the smoke had been extinguished with a fire extinguisher but the men had suffered burns and inhaled a toxic amount of smoke.
Paramedics treated the men for smoke inhalation and minor burns before transporting them to a local hospital.
