Phoenix, AZ – A man is taken to the hospital after escaping a fire on the second story of an Phoenix apartment complex Tuesday morning.

The resident of an apartment near McDowell Road and 71st Avenue was first aware of the fire inside his apartment at about 4:30 a.m. Not being able to escape the fire, the man was forced to jump from the 2nd story before fire fighters arrived.
The man was transported to a local hospital to be treated for injuries incurred from the jump. The condition of his injuries is unknown.
The firefighters were able to contain the fire to one apartment. Water and smoke damage affected a neighboring one.
