A 45-year-old bicyclist is in critical condition after being hit while riding his bike on 19th street in Phoenix on Saturday afternoon.
According to police, the bicyclist was riding northbound on 19th street and had almost reached the intersection of Vogel Street when he attempted to cross the road. He was struck by an SUV that was also traveling northbound on 19th street.
He was taken to a hospital and his condition was listed as extremely critical. The police reported that he was not wearing a helmet.
The driver of the SUV was not impaired, according to police, and was released from custody.
