Gilbert, AZ – Eight people were hurt in a two-vehicle crash that sent an elderly couple and group of teens to the hospital Saturday evening.

A southbound PT Cruiser that was traveling at high speeds of up to 60-65mph t-boned a large SUV that was attempting to cross Lindsey Road. A section of Lindsey Road near Ray road were closed while police investigated the crash where
An elderly couple ages 69 and 74 in the SUV were sent to the hospital. The 69-year old driver was trapped and the fire department had to extricate her by removing the front door.
A total of six people were crammed into the PT Cruiser according to ABC 15. The driver, a 21-year old man failed to stop in time to avoid the accident. Inside the PT Cruiser were teens ages ranging 18 and 21.
Paramedics transported two teens to a local trauma hospital. They suffered head and abdominal injuries. Some of these teens were cited for underage intoxication.
Police are investigating if the driver of the PT Cruiser was under the influence of alcohol and whether or not the passengers were wearing a seatbelt.
