People gathered in crowds from the surrounding neighborhood where the car crash happened at 10:30 p.m. It awoke many. The noise of metal against metal could be heard many blocks away from the scene.
After arguing with his girlfriend at a barbeque, a 29-year old man left in a 4-door Pontiac alone. Angered, he sped away in a fury down US 70 in Arizona. He did not fasten his seatbelt. Failing to maneuver the curve of the highway into High Street, his vehicle lost control. It crashed against a 4-door pickup truck with such an impact that the hood of the Pontiac was found below the rear undercarriage of the vehicle. He was ejected from his sedan and landed 25 feet from the scene.
Duncan Fire Department handled the accident. They found the driver of the sedan dead and treated all three of the passengers in the pickup truck for injuries. They were all wearing their seatbelts. One was released on the scene. The other two were transported to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center in Safford with moderate injuries including a fractured collar bone.
The sedans driver’s body is being examined to determine his level of intoxication in Tucson.
