Two motor vehicles, a full-size truck and an SUV-type vehicle transporting a 24-foot boat crashed head-on. The front ends of both vehicles were destroyed, airbags deployed and passengers injured.
The boat became unhitched upon impact and landed 200 feet from the scene, landing 50 feet down a ravine on the west side of the street.
Rescuers used the Jaws of Life to peel the top of the SUV and extricate an elderly woman. An elderly man traveling with her was able to extricate himself. They were both taken to the hospital and are in stable condition. The truck had five passengers, two of which were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition as well. No one died.
From the scene of the accident it was unclear as to which vehicle was traveling north or south. The accident is undergoing investigation.
