Scottsdale, AZ – A large SUV kills cyclist on a bike lane in Scottsdale Sunday night.

A cyclist was riding northbound on the bike lane near Thompson Peak Parkway and 100th Street at night when the accident occurred. A Chevrolet Tahoe merged into the bicycle lane without taking note of the bicyclist. The large SUV hit the cyclist, ejected him from his seat and smashed him into the ground. The cyclist was critically injured by the impact. The impact of the SUV and the ground were too much for his body.
Paramedics rushed the cyclist to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Although the cyclist was wearing a helmet, it did not prevent his death. The driver of the SUV was not injured.
The driver of the SUV did not show signs of impairment and is not being charged at the time as police further investigate the accident.
