A teenager was seriously injured and a woman’s car was completely destroyed in two separate light rail crashes on Saturday and Sunday in Phoenix.
The first accident happened with a 17-year-old boy was run over near Central Avenue and Campbell by a light rail train.
The boy was pinned against the concrete platform by the train and held there until witnesses came to his rescue. One of the witnesses said that the boy seemed dead, but they pulled him out from under the train anyways.
The teenager was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The other incident occurred at 17th Avenue and Camelback when a woman turned her car onto the light rail tracks just as the train approached from behind.
Her car was completely destroyed when the train hit it. It was pushed for about 50 feet.
Police say that most people do not hear the train coming because it is so quiet and remind motorists to pay attention to the lights and arrows.
