The I-10 freeway closed after a woman rolled her SUV across several lanes of traffic. The accident occurred near the 40th street exit at 10:30 a.m.
According to police, the accident was prompted when another car rear-ended the SUV, causing the vehicle to flip and roll across traffic. Witnesses claim that the vehicle rolled about five or six times before coming to a complete stop. Officials worked for nearly two hours to extract the woman from her vehicle, where she was trapped.
Only one lane was open while crews worked, which caused major traffic delays.
The woman was transported to a local hospital where her current condition remains unknown.
