Phoenix, AZ (August 8, 2019)- An investigation is underway to determine the cause of a vehicle vs pedestrian accident that occurred in central Phoenix early Thursday morning, August 8th. The incident occurred sometime around 2:30 A.M. when Phoenix Fire Department arrived to find 3 injured pedestrians near the intersection of 27th Avenue and Indian School Road. According to the victims, they were walking on the sidewalk along Indian School Road when they were all struck by a vehicle that had hopped the curb and collided into the group.
The vehicle did not stop and render aid to the pedestrians and fled the scene. Officers say they are treating this incident as a hit-and-run case. 2 of the pedestrians were treated on scene for minor injuries while the 3rd pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a nearby trauma center where they were listed in stable condition by medical staff. At this time, a vehicle and suspect description are not available.
