June 12th ─ 2 separate accidents have been reported in Avondale, about 6 miles east of Phoenix. The first accident occurred around 9:00 a.m. Monday morning on the Interstate-10 near 99th Avenue involving a semi-truck. Authorities reported calls from witnesses of a semi-truck’s trailer hanging along I-10. According to witnesses the construction semi-truck had veered off an unpaved service road just off I-10, crashed through a fence, with the trailer half off the side of the embankment. Police believe that the accident was the result of a medical emergency suffered by the driver. Witnesses reported to authorities that the driver was drifting “in and out of consciousness”. The Arizona Department of Public Safety was working diligently to pull the semi-truck back onto the interstate road. The Semi-truck driver was transported to a local hospital and was treated for the previously stated medical emergency. There is no additional information regarding the semi-truck driver.
The second accident involved a 2-car collision near 113th Street Avenue and Indian School Road also in Avondale. This accident occurred around 6:00 p.m. when one vehicle apparently struck another vehicle’s passenger’s side. A 22-year old male passenger of one of the vehicles suffered major injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The 22-year old later succumbed to his injuries and died. No other information has been released on the identity of any parties involved.
