Chandler, AZ – One man was killed on a Chandler road Wednesday morning. He allegedly took off his shoes, held a bible and jumped onto the road in front of an oncoming vehicle on purpose.

Various police vehicles surrounded a white vehicle that was parked around the side of the road which was suspect to have belonged to a man who had jumped in front of a vehicle at about 7:30 a.m. The accident happened near Alma School Road and Fulton Ranch Boulevard north of Chandler Heights Boulevard.
Chandler resident Kevin Shaw, a 31-year-old, according to various news sources leaped off the side of a sidewalk in front of a minivan. The minivan did not have enough time to stop and struck Shaw, it was traveling at about 45 mph. Shaw died on impact. Police said that Shaw allegedly took off his shoes, embraced a bible and made sudden moves which were indicative of his intentions to jump.
Authorities restricted traffic access to the southbound Alma School Road lanes for nearly four hours after the accident. Detectives and authorities have come to the conclusion that this man and his actions demonstrate that he was attempting to commit suicide. They are conducting a more in depth investigation to determine the motive of the suicide.
