Mesa, AZ – A boy is taken to the hospital after the vehicle he was in went airborne and crashed into a metal fence Tuesday afternoon.

The crash occurred near Higley Road and Southern Avenue. The vehicle was driven by a 31-year old man, the father of the boy.
The vehicle struck a curb, went airborne hit an irrigation pipe, went airborne again and crashed against a metal and block fence of an apartment complex.
After the crash the father of the boy attempted to flee the scene with his son and another adult male but was caught by the police.
All three were transported to a local hospital and were treated for minor injuries.
Investigators believe the driver was intoxicated and police arrested him.
