Mesa, AZ – Authorities are withholding the name of the motorcycle rider who died after colliding with a sedan on Southern Avenue Thursday night.

The motorcycle rider was heading east on Southern Avenue before eleven at night when a sedan entered his lane. A sedan heading west failed to yield in an attempt to make a left turn and crossed the path of the motorcycle. Unable to stop in time, the motorcycle rider crashed into the sedan.
The crash sent the motorcycle rider over the handle bars and onto the ground. Although he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, he sustained serious injuries.
Paramedics transported the injured victim to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries; he died soon after he arrived.
Authorities are investigating the accident to determine whether or not the driver of the sedan will face charges.
