A 15-year-old boy with his learner’s permit was accused of crashing his mother’s truck into a gas station and driving under the influence of alcohol.
The accident occurred at the Zone gas station at the intersection of Broadway and Val Vista in Mesa.
The boy was driving a 2008 Dodge pickup north on Val Vista when he turned into the gas station to buy condoms, according to witnesses. As he attempted to leave, he lost control of the car and crashed into the pillar between the two gas pumps.
The damage from the crash was extensive and the boy was severely injured. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later arrested.
